Product Details
Product Code | 601700 |
Contents | Indicator m, 6 mL Indicator p, 6 mL Titration Solution, 15 mL Test Tube, 10 mL Instructions for Use |
Analytical Method | Acidimetric Titration: The water sample is titrated with hydrochloric acid to the pH of 8.2 against phenolphthalein and to the pH of 4.3 against a mixed pH indicator. Results are expressed as calcium carbonate CaCO3 (carbonate hardness). |
Number of Tests | 50 – 80 |
Interferences | None, when Alkalinity is caused only by hydroxide, carbonate and bicarbonate ions. Free chlorine can interfere by destroying the indicator. |
Measuring Range | The recommended measuring range is 100 to 1000 mg/L (2 – 20 drops @ 10 mg/L) for 5 mL of sample volume. This range can be extended by taking a smaller or larger water sample. For a 2.5 mL sample the measuring range is 200 to 2000 mg/L and for a 10 mL sample the range is 50 to 200 mg/L. |
Shelf Life | 2 years |
Applications | Determination and monitoring of p- and m-alkalinity in industrial water treatment (boiler feed water). |
